英国で最もよく使われるガーデニングのツール(道具）は、スペードとフォークの二つじゃ。
コンテナなどのちょっとした作業の時は、移植ごてと小さなフォークじゃな。

最近、わしのお気に入りなのは、いわゆる、ミッドハンドルというツールじゃ。
移植ごてや小さなフォークと同じヘッドに、長めの柄がついているんじゃよ。

85歳のわしには、小さな移植ごてやフォークをしゃがんで使い、そのあと立ち上がるのはだんだん難しくなってきておる。　

それだけではなくて、長い柄で、てこの原理で土などを掘るにもだいぶ楽なんじゃ。。

The two most used tools for gardening in England are the spade and fork. For smaller jobs like working with containers we use a hand trowel and hand fork.

Recently I have become very fond of what we call midhandled tools. The head is the same size as the hand trowel and fork, but the handles are a bit longer.

I should say that when I'm using the hand tools I am usually kneeling and at 85 years old, standing up again is getting harder and harder.

As well as my"medical" reason for using them I also find that I can dig much easier with the extra leverage offerd by the longer handle
