コッツウォルズのマーケットタウンであるテットベリーから３マイルほどの場所に、ウェストンバート国立樹木園がある。　
前回紹介したウェストンバート・スクールの道路を挟んだ反対側にあり、元々は1850年台にウェストンバート・エステートのオーナーであるロバート・ホルフォード氏が植えたという。

歴史的な、ビクトリア時代のピクチャレスク(絵画的）なランドスケープに、林野庁やウェストンバート・植物園の知人たちの助けを借りて世界各地の樹木や灌木が植えられたのだそうだよ。

英国をはじめ、中国、北アメリカ、日本、チリなど気候や温度の違いのある国から来た2500種類もの違うタイプの樹木が、合計15000本も、ラベルをきちんと付けて植えられている。

Westonbirt, The National Arboretum, is located three miles from the Cotswold market town of Tetbury. It's also across the road from Westonbirt School and was origianlly owned and planted in the 1850's by Robert Holford, the owner of the Westonbirt Estate.

The historic, Victorian picturesque landscape and internationally important tree and shrub collection is managed by the Forestry Commission and supported by the Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum.

The 15,000 labelled trees (around 2,500 different types of tree) come from Britain, China, North America, Japan, Chile and other temperate climates.
